The Comprehension strategies box: Box 2 is suitable for students aged 7–8. The box contains a set of full-colour, differentiated literacy cards designed to support the teaching and learning of nine different comprehension strategies. These well-researched and proven strategies—predicting, visualising, making connections, questioning, clarifying, summarising, determining importance, inferring and synthesising—are compiled to help teachers unlock their students’ reading abilities.
It is a really, really fantastic resource and I'm so excited to have it in my class this year. Within every strategy there are 6 different texts that you can go through, which will help you with your kids who need a little bit of extra help, and the extension students that you have in your class. It's perfect for all of them!

This is 'The Comprehension strategies box' and it is absolutely amazing! It will help me teach a range of reading comprehension skills such as predicting, visualising, making connections, questioning, clarifying , summarising determining importance, inferring and synthesising. This box is aimed at grade 2 students but you can purchase a box for any year level from grade one all the way through to grade 6. For each of the comprehension strategies there are six different texts available. Two at below level, two at level and two above level, so perfect for differentiation! There are six copies of each text so it is perfect for guided reading groups. It comes with an activity book and a teacher guide so there are lots of activities that you can photocopy for your students and then there is a whole book of information on how to model and teach the strategies as well. They are all colour coated in different colours for the different comprehension strategies and it is really easy to use.'

An amazing resource, it is based off the Australian Curriculum which is really awesome because that means we are covering all the content we need to cover. It comes with a teachers guide book which is super super helpful, it is full of activities, with lots that we can photocopy which is awesome – we love that. It has all the content descriptors and the purpose of them. It is a really thick book full of those amazing resources. The box comes with 4 sets of cards, so this is something that your school could purchase a whole group of year levels. So, for example my school has 4 classes of 3 primary’s and so that means my class and 3 other primary classes can use this as one, so it’s really cool. The cards are categorised by each learning area. The activities are ideal for small group activities that are teacher led. Most of the activities have the instructions at the bottom. The great thing about these cards is that all of them have things at the top that will tell you what resources you need to complete each activity. E.g. counters, whiteboard, etc. It prompts the kids with what they need to complete the activity and promotes independence as well as they can actually go and get the resources themselves. I can’t recommend R.I.C.’s resources enough because they are just so incredible. They are curriculum aligned; they are perfect for in the classroom. So, definitely go check them out if you haven’t already.
