With so much talk about the environment and climate change, it is important to include students in current discussions. We’ve compiled a few websites and resources that can help your students on their quest to learn more about the environment, the climate and sustainability, and inspire them to take action in relation to these pressing issues.
- ABC Education With a range of topics including ecosystems, plants and animals, seasons, climate change, and Planet Earth, there is something for all primary years. Their resources include videos, digital books and games, making them easy to include in any lesson.
- World Heritage Education program Featuring their free-to-download ‘World heritage in young hands kit’, UNESCO’s education program has a stack of resources that can be utilised across primary schools, with the aim of encouraging students to learn about the history and traditions of cultures, ecology, and promoting the ongoing need to protect the biodiversity of the planet.
- CSIRO Sustainable futures Combining climate change with education in sustainability, this program uses critical thinking, problem-solving and collaborative learning. The program can be whole-school based, and contains many cross-curricular activities.
- Global Education There are two environmental activities that focus on Australia that can be used to further students’ learning about the environment, along with a range of other activities and topics that span countries around the world.
- Cool Australia With an excellent search filter that allows you to narrow down resources suitable for your class, Cool Australia has all the best resources about the environment in one place. Access to hundreds of resources is available after a simple registration.
