Teaching comprehension strategies is designed to methodically and creatively teach students the skills and strategies needed for effective comprehension. These strategies have been defined as understanding words, finding information, identifying the main idea, sequencing, comparing, predicting, concluding, summarising, inferring, cause and effect, fact or opinion and point of view. This 7-book series is great for students across Foundation to Year 6, giving them the tools required to master comprehension.
Unique original and varied texts
Each area contains a reading material to suit the strategy being highlighted. They are designed to be worked through with teachers to begin with and further comprehension questions for independent work.
Master skills and strategies
Each skill and strategy are specifically taught progressively, directing students to focus on each of the skills and strategies. Once done, students can go over a test page, providing opportunities for assessment.
Take it further with additional activities
With extensive background notes and information for each strategy, teachers will be able to expand on the activities outlined within the book, and provide the widest possible application.
