This year marks 70 years of the Commonwealth—a union of 53 nations with a joint vision and goals in areas including democracy, economics, education, gender, governance, human rights, law, small states, sport, sustainability and youth.
In recognition of seven decades of unity, the theme for 2019 is ‘A connected Commonwealth’, which reflects the nations working together to protect our natural environment and the ocean.
This is a perfect time to get students interested and involved in Commonwealth-related activities, including debates, school assemblies and performances, and other cultural events. As we face challenges to both natural resources and the environment, it has never been more important to educate and act.
Check out the following links for a great collection of information and activities for students.
