Happy Book Week 2022 everyone! Running from 20–26 August, Book Week is the time of year to celebrate and encourage children’s love of reading and imagination.
This year’s theme—announced by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA)—is ‘Dreaming with eyes open …’ and features artwork by Indigenous children’s author and illustrator Jasmine Seymour.
Celebrating Aussie stories is at the heart of this year’s Book Week theme and is the perfect time to explore stories by our First Nations authors, the first storytellers of Australia.
Spend the week diving into books and take your students to faraway places, and they’ll be dreaming with their eyes wide open!
Get students involved and excited about books with a dress-up day at school.
Encourage students to come along to school dressed up as their favourite characters or even their favourite Aussie animals—perhaps a cuddly possum from Mem Fox’s much-loved children’s book, Possum magic.
